UMP (Unified Media Platform)

The 'Play with VLC' function in the Media Library doesn't work. The page is loaded, but no video.

Q: The 'Play with VLC' function in the Media Library doesn't work. The page is loaded, but no video.
A: This function depends on a specific version of the browser plugin. It was optimized for plugin version up to 0.8.5. The current 1.x
releases do not work. This may be corrected at a later date.

UPDATE: The VLC Web Plugin page, previously called 'vlcwin.rpy' in the Web Interface has been renamed to 'vlcold.rpy' and still supports the 0.8.5 and lower plugin versions. Additionally, the 'vlcwin.rpy' page has been updated to support the 1.1.0 and higher plugins (theoretically, all versions including and above 0.8.6). By default, the newer API page will be launched, though you can switch to the older version at the bottom of the page. This plugin has been tested in Internet Explorer 6 (Windows XP SP2), where the controls have no effect, the video can be played and Mozilla Firefox 3.6 (Windows XP SP2), where all functions work.
